Fantasy Football: Week 1 is done!

apphoto
The past few days have been very stressful for those of us who compete in fantasy football leagues. Week 1 of the 2009 NFL season began early on a Thursday afternoon and did not end until late on a Monday night. So now that week 1 is officially complete for the NFL and Fantasy Football, what have we learned?

The Obvious:
1. Adrian Peterson is the player we knew he was!

2. Drew Brees put up huge numbers as he has the past couple of years. Don’t expect this every week from him. I mean come on it was the Lions.

3. Tom Brady doesn’t lose. Put him between a rock and a hard place and he will figure out how to make lemonade without the necessary ingredients.

The Not So Obvious:
1. Donovan McNabb conveniently gets injured in week 1, so when Vick starts in week 3 there is no controversy.

2. Bush scored a rushing TD. No not Reggie, Michael Bush of the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders looked like a team that had actually seen a football before unlike the previous 5-10 seasons. But who is counting, I tell you who is not, Al Davis!

3. Jay Cutler was told that he actually got traded to the Packers and Jake Delhomme thought he could get a roster spot with the Eagles. So they threw it to the green jerseys. 4 ints. each Congrats guys!
Need a Player? Check out these players on the waiver wire:

Take a shot:

QB- Trent Edwards vs. TB, Edwards put up good numbers vs. a tough NE def. Good weapons, short passes, Romo tore up TB def.

RB- Michael Bush vs. KC, Bush saw a lot of action vs. SD, OAK off. will run the ball on KC def who gave up 198 yds. rushing to Bal. Cable has instilled a new attitude in his offensive line.

WR- Nate Burleson vs. SF, Burleson had 7 receptions vs. a weak STL def, but double teams will go towards Housh and Carlson leaving Burleson one on one.

TE- Benjamin Watson vs NYJ, Watson’s value has clearly skyrocketed with the return of Brady, Brady has a ton of weapons but when the game was on the line he went to his Big, Athletic TE.

K- Shaun Suisham vs. STL, Suisham will get his opportunities vs the STL def. unless Washington just scores TD after TD.

DEF- ATL def. vs CAR, ATL def. caused a ton of turnovers, CAR off. turned the ball over a ton.

Be Wary:

QB: Brodie Croyle vs. OAK, Croyle put up decent numbers, but will sit as soon as Cassel is ready to play.

RB: Willis McGahee vs. SD, McGahee put up big numbers, but he is the 3rd option in BAL.

WR: Justin Gage vs. HOU. Gage had a great game against PIT, but TEN will be running a lot vs. the HOU def.

TE: Shawn Nelson vs. BUF. Nelson scored a TD this week, but he was not a main target whatsoever.

K: Jason Hanson vs MIN, Hanson probably won’t get too many shots vs. MIN def.

DEF: SEA def. vs. SF, Seattle had a weak opponent in week 1, look for them to give up some points this week against an improved SF off.

Injury Watch:
L. Tomlinson- may not play this week due to a sprained ankle.
D. McNabb- fractured rib means pain, pain, pain. Doubtful!
M. Cassel- going to be a game time decision.
A. Gonzalez- Sprained PCL. No Chance!
T. Polamalu- Torn PCL. Call back in a month.
B. Urlacher. –Dislocated bone in his wrist. Out for the season!

Madden Curse rubbing off on other game titles?

2k32

It has been reported that Brian Urlacher has had season ending wrist surgery today. This is just a mere 6 years after being on the cover of NFL 2K3. Is this just a coincidence? I think not. On that note, how about the Sports Illustrated curse? Oklahoma State University learned the hard way as they graced the cover of the magazine early last week and then they proceeded to lose to the University of Houston 45-35 this past weekend. Players and teams need to be warned about these curses, STAY AWAY from the spotlight!

Madden Curse 2010???

212659-madden-2010-cover1

The Madden Curse is 50% true thus far this season. Troy Polamalu is out for 3-6 weeks with a sprained MCL. Will the curse hold true for Larry Fitzgerald? I honestly hope not; since I have him in 2 Fantasy leagues. Madden 2010 please Spare Fitz for at least the span of the regular season. Any thoughts on this?

This is why you always keep your Helmet on before, during and after a game…

So if you have ever played football, I’m sure a coach has told you to always keep your helmet on. Other than being penalized or pissing the coach, this is another example of why you should do so. Does Blount have a future in MMA?
